Dance Contest is a mini-game that can be played by clicking on the Dance Contest poster inside the Dance Club. Resembling the well-known music video game Dance Dance Revolution, players use their arrow keys when arrows traveling upward reach on top of the arrow markers. Multiplayer was added to the game on July 19, 2024, coinciding with the release of the Music Jam 2024.

How to Play[]

To earn points, the player presses the up, down, left and right arrow keys on their keyboard when the arrows reach the markers.

Accuracy matters (noted by "miss," "boo," "almost," "good," "great," or "perfect"); more points are earned if the player presses the arrow keys as the arrows reach the markers with good timing. If done with sufficient accuracy enough times, a streak will begin, awarding more points.

Additionally, if the player is holding a Purple Puffle when starting the game, the puffle will dance alongside the player and passively earn points.

Options[]

Players can choose which mode, difficulty, and tracks to play with.

Modes[]

  • Solo - The player dances by themselves to a song of their choice.
  • Multiplayer - The player competes with a number of other players to a randomly chosen song. A new round takes place every two minutes.

Difficulties[]

  • Easy - This difficulty mode has the least amount of arrows and the slowest speed.
  • Normal - There are more arrows on this difficulty, which come at a faster speed.
  • Hard - Featuring the most arrows, this difficulty features complex patterns and rhythms at an even faster speed.
  • Expert - There are less notes than on Hard difficulty, but more long arrows which score more points. The arrow layout is randomized each playthrough, and the arrows come at the fastest speed. In solo mode, Expert is accessible by clicking on Cadence when choosing a difficulty.

Coins[]

Contrary to most mini-games, Dance Contest does not divide the total points earned by 10 to determine the amount of coins the player receives. Instead, it is based on the score the player earns at the end of the game.

  • If the player's score is , then the total score is divided by 25. For example, if a player has a score of 4500, they will receive 180 coins.
  • If the player's score is , then the amount of coins the player receives is calculated as such: where s stands for the score. For example, if s is equal to 15,000, then the player would earn 500 coins.
