Herbert P. Bear or just Herbert is a polar bear and the main antagonist of Club Penguin Journey. He first appeared in Mission 5: Secret of the Fur, but has been the mastermind behind every PSA mission since Mission 3: Case of the Missing Coins.
Despite being a polar bear, Herbert hates the cold. His plans usually involve methods of keeping himself warm, such as in Mission 6: Questions for a Crab where he wanted to chop down the Ski Lodge and other buildings for firewood. He also finds penguins to be extremely obnoxious.
Herbert often travels with his crab friend Klutzy, who assists him in carrying out his villainous plans. He is currently listed as a "Suspect at Large" in The F.I.S.H.. He made his debut as a mascot during Operation: Veggie Villain, in which he blew up the Sport Shop and PSA Headquarters with a popcorn bomb.
Personality[]
Herbert is a self-centered and egoistic bear with high intelligence, capable of building technology. He is often grumpy and can be a bit clumsy, usually unintentionally causing his plans to backfire when he doesn't think far enough ahead. He is hardheaded and uses failure as a lesson when his plans fail.
He can be quite spiteful towards the penguins, due to his annoyance with them. He does not typically display affection, except for his companion, Klutzy; a silent red crab who accompanies him during his schemes.

- Herbert made his very first appearance as a mascot during Operation: Veggie Villain.
- Herbert ended up on Club Penguin Island when he attempted to travel south via iceberg to somewhere warm, but was carried all the way to the South Pole by the ocean currents.
- He almost drowned when the iceberg he was traveling on accidentally tipped, but was saved by Klutzy the Crab.
- Though Herbert first appeared in Mission 5: Secret of the Fur, he is not formally introduced until Mission 6: Questions for a Crab.
- Despite being a polar bear, Herbert is a vegetarian.
- He likes hot and spicy seaweed pizzas.
- He is able to understand crabs.
- A tuft of his fur appears in the Yearbook 2023-2024, along with a sketch from Mission 5: Secret of the Fur. He is just referred to as "The Polar Bear".
- He appeared on the back cover of the Penguin Style July 2024.
